Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the City of North Port Remain AFSCME Strong

Today, members of two AFSCME locals voted overwhelmingly to recertify their unions. AFSCME Local 1184, representing non-instructional staff for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, continued rebuilding their union by voting 94% in favor of recertification. The hardworking men and women who make the City of North Port happen voted 98% to keep their strong AFSCME contract.
AFSCME Florida Administrator James Spears, Jr. released the following statement:
“These elections continue to underscore that the AFSCME difference can be seen and felt across the state. With a strong union voice, workers can continue to stand up for quality services that they provide, for safe working conditions and for respect on the job. These contracts will continue to be about improving lives for themselves, their families and their coworkers and we are proud they are doing that through AFSCME.”
