Today, after the ballots were counted in their recertification election, the hardworking men and women represented by AFSCME Local 966 retained their contract and rights on the job with more than 81% of the vote. These dedicated public service workers for the town of Bay Harbor Islands will continue to have a voice in the services they deliver, safe working conditions and fair compensation.

AFSCME Florida Administrator James Spears, Jr. released the following statement:

“These dedicated public service workers only recently won their union and their first contract, so they understand what is at stake. We are proud of their continued efforts to build their union, and this is another step along the way. They are on the front lines every day and fearless when it comes advocating for those they serve, their coworkers and their own careers. And they will continue to do so with the security of a union voice.”
