AFSCME Florida Statement on Recertification Win in City of North Port 

North Port – Today the hardworking men and women represented by AFSCME in the City of North Port voted more than 76% in favor of recertifying their union. AFSCME Local 3432, representing the public service workers for the fast-growing city, will continue to ensure these dedicated workers have a protected voice in the services they deliver. 

AFSCME Florida Administrator James Spears, Jr. released the following statement: 

“No amount of legislative tricks, traps or misdirection that will stop public service workers with North Port from continuing to build their union, ratify fair contracts and deliver the services that the taxpayers, visitors and business deserve. Tonight’s vote shows that the revitalized labor movement in Florida will have a powerful presence along the Gulf Coast for years to come.”
