AFSCME Florida Statement on Recertification Win at New College of Florida

Today the hardworking men and women represented by AFSCME at New College of Florida voted 100% unanimously in favor of recertifying their union with a nearly 75% turnout. AFSCME Local 591, representing the will continue to ensure these dedicated workers have a protected voice in the services they deliver for students, faculty and the community.
AFSCME Florida Administrator James Spears, Jr. released the following statement:
“Another day and another group of higher-education workers make clear they want a union on the job. The AFSCME family is proud of the job these members did to stand up and speak out on behalf of their union rights and beliefs on a campus that has seen so much negativity over the past few years. Once thing that is a constant is freedom and today these workers exercised theirs on behalf of their shared future on the job.”
