Today, the dedicated staff that ensures the citizens of one of the country’s largest and most dynamic county are able to exercise their right to vote in fair, accurate, transparent and accessible elections got the results of their own election. They voted 100% in favor if their AFSCME union voice through a mail-ballot election administered by Florida’s Public Employees Relations Commission (PERC). AFSCME Local 199 President Se'Adoreia Brown released the following statement: “The people who keep Miami-Dade County running have been through a lot of upheaval over the past few years as the structure and administration of services has drastically changed. Through it all, they have kept their focus on delivering the services that our communities depend on, with the professionalism they have come to expect. Today is the first of many PERC victories we plan to celebrate as other departments join the Supervisor of Election employees in voting to retain the strong union voice and strong union contract that is central to their success on the job. - ### -
