AFSCME Members Win the Fight Against Job Cuts!

They called their county commissioners, they spoke up online and they showed up at meetings. And they won!

Last week, when the Miami-Dade commissioners narrowly passed a $14.3 billion budget for 2027, it did not include cutting or transferring dozens of AFSCME Local 199 and AFSCME Local 3292 jobs. 

The county was trying to balance the budget on the backs of dedicate public service workers and they probably thought that cutting only a few jobs in a county as big as Miami-Dade would get by. But AFSCME members made clear that cutting even one just was not acceptable!

This is what having a strong and powerful union can do. That is why we have to keep growing because when there are more voices at the table, our fight is even greater.
